First-Time Rabbit Owners BEWARE!

Kaytee has a history of selling products harmful to rabbit health. This, unfortunately, is one of them. Rabbits are similar to cats in that they need a lot of room and can be litter-box trained. Although Kaytee claims this cage is "giant," it is WAY TOO SMALL. They should be kept in dog exercise pens and let out for free-roam periods in the house if possible. They can even live in multiple rooms 24/7 if they are "bunny-proofed". Here is a quote from the Rabbit Welfare Association on the topic of rabbit housing: "Our recommended living area for 2 average-sized rabbits (and they should be kept at least in pairs) is a single enclosed area of at least 3m x 2m by 1m high". Rabbits also do not require bedding and would prefer a cat-sized litter box full of fresh Timothy hay and newspaper litter pellets. Newspaper pellets are safe for them to accidentally eat in small quantities. They don't mind if their litter touches their hay and prefer to eat it while using their litter box. This will also help train them to use their litter box. They also need toys. Toilet paper tubes and small cardboard boxes can be excellent toys. Check out some DIY tutorials with positive comments and rotate their toys like you would for a baby! Your rabbit will thank you. There are many reputable online resources that help you care for rabbits and give them the best life you can. They only have around 10 years in this world. Give them the best life you can!
